The Meramec Valley library in St.Louis has commissioned Toboggan to imagine and create two experiences for the new children’s discovery areas. The first interactive is a “story wall’” where children use Playbloks with words or illustrations on them, to complete or reimagine a nursery rhyme. The second experience is a construction area where Playbloks are used as playful bricks to build simple walls and structures.
Children visiting the London Public Library in Ontario can now play with an interactive magnetic wall designed by Toboggan. Colourful foam shapes can be arranged to create an imaginary garden of leafs and giant flowers.
Toboggan Design has been chosen to reimagine and design the new Canadian Children Museum planned to open in 2021. Laurent Carrier, one of Toboggan’s partners, was part of the original design team back in 1994 and is excited to take part of the renewal as he will get to revisit the visitor experience and exhibits following new goals.
The OMA Award of Excellence in Special Projects was awarded to the Canada Science and Technology Museum for its successful renewal of its 80,000 sq. ft. exhibition spaces, which includes Exploratek and ZOOOM.
The Canada Science and Technology Museum receives the award for outstanding achievement in the category Exhibitions. This award was received for the new permanent exhibitions, including ZOOOM designed by Toboggan.
The Canada Science and Technology Museum is the first national public institution in Canada to earn the Accessibility Certified Gold rating under the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility CertificationTM (RHFAC) program. Toboggan is proud to have collaborated with the museum in creating truly accessible exhibits.
The Canada Science and Technology Museum appear on the list of finalists for the CASCADE award. This award is given annually for the best permanent, temporary or travelling exhibition or small multimedia, live presentation or planetarium show of a CASC Full Member.
